How to find Hendre Ddu Cottage

Hendre Ddu Cottage is located about three miles off the A470 in the Dyfi Valley.

From Shrewsbury, take the A458 through Welshpool, following signs for Dolgellau (and Machynlleth).

From Welshpool, the road is fairly long and winding to Mallwyd, where the A458 meets the A470. Turn left at this roundabout towards Machynlleth. A mile or so down the road you will see a sign for Aberangell.

Turn right towards Aberangell, past the caravan site. At the T junction, turn right and drive steeply up the hill past the cemetery on the left. Turn sharp left at the phone box and keep following that road past the houses, over a cattle grid and on till you get to a large junction.

Take the road straight ahead (marked dead end), which is also signposted to Hendre Ddu Cottages. Follow that road for about three miles. Do not veer left or right till the road forks and turns into dirt tracks. Take the right fork (signposted to Hendre Ddu Cottages). Follow the track through a series of gates, past Gartheniog Farmhouse. You will see Hendre Ddu cottages up ahead of you. The drive is a sharp right off the main track, then a sharp left.
